No. CineScope is a discovery and tracking companion — it does not stream, host, or download full movies, TV episodes, or video files. It helps you organize what to watch and where to find it, but playback happens on the streaming or rental services you already use.
CineScope submits a background app refresh task (BGAppRefreshTask) to check TMDB APIs for any changes in release dates for the titles on your Watchlist. This occurs silently. Make sure that Background App Refresh is enabled under iOS Settings > CineScope.
No, you do not need a TMDB (The Movie Database) account. CineScope is ready to use immediately upon installation. We fetch all movie posters, cast bios, and synopsis data directly using TMDB's public APIs.
Yes. Your watchlist, ratings, and notes are stored locally and remain fully accessible offline. An internet connection is only needed to fetch new metadata from TMDB, load posters, or serve ads.
CineScope is free to download and use, supported by non-personalized banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads served through Google AdMob. Users who mark themselves as under 13 in the age gate have all ad requests fully disabled.
